A young woman holds a white animal. It is an ermine. Her name was Cecilia. The animal may be a joke about her family name. Leonardo da Vinci painted this.
The model for this portrait is Cecilia Gallerani, a young woman at the court of Milan. She was probably about 16 years old. Leonardo painted it around 1489–1491, when he worked for Ludovico Sforza, the ruler of Milan. Only four portraits of women by Leonardo exist.
