This is a night by a big river. The moon is bright in the sky. The river shines green. The picture was shown in a dark room. Some people looked behind it for a lamp!

On a dark night, a full moon looks out between the clouds and lights up the Dnieper River with a greenish glow. The painter was Arkhip Kuindzhi, who was born in Mariupol, in today's Ukraine. He made this painting in 1880, and it is now in the State Russian Museum in Saint Petersburg.

【本文の訳】真っ暗な夜、雲のすき間から満月が顔を出し、ドニエプル川を緑がかった光で照らしています。描いたのは、今のウクライナのマリウポリ生まれの画家アルヒープ・クインジ。1880年の作品で、今はサンクトペテルブルクのロシア美術館にあります。
