The baby is often seen as a new life about to be born on earth, and Kannon seems to watch over it like a mother. 【本文の訳】金色の空を見てください。観音さまが雲の上に立ち、小さな瓶から水をそそいでいます。その下では、赤ちゃんが大きな玉の中に浮かんでいます。これは画家の最後の作品です。画家は亡くなる直前にこの絵を描きました。
【本文の訳】金色にかすむ空に、白い衣の観音さまが立ち、右手の小さな水瓶から清らかな水をそそいでいます。その水が届く先には、すきとおった玉に包まれた赤ちゃん。これから地上に生まれていく命を表すと考えられていて、観音さまが母のように見守っています。描いたのは狩野芳崖。江戸時代から続く狩野派で学んだ日本画家で、1888年（明治21年）、人生の最後にこの絵に取り組みました。
