Three girls stand on a bridge. They look down at the water. It is a light summer night in Norway. Munch painted this scene many times. One version sold for over 50 million dollars!

Edvard Munch painted this picture around 1901. Three girls in white, red and green lean on the railing of a wooden bridge and look down at the water. Behind them are a white house and a big tree, and the tree's dark shape is reflected in the water. The scene is the pier at Åsgårdstrand, a seaside village south of Oslo. The painting is now in the National Museum in Oslo.

🦉 Fun Fact! Munch painted the girls (or women) on the bridge from 1901 into the 1930s. Twelve oil paintings are known, and there are prints too. He liked to repaint favorite scenes, changing the colors and figures each time to express new feelings.
