日本にエラスムスの木像がある！ 1600年、豊後（今の大分県）に流れ着いたオランダ船リーフデ号の船尾には、木彫りのエラスムス像がかざられていました。この像は栃木県佐野市の龍江院に伝わったもので、今は東京国立博物館に寄託され、国の重要文化財に指定されています。
