A woman in a splendid dress stands with a little boy by her side. She is Eleanor of Toledo, the wife of Cosimo I de' Medici, ruler of Florence, and the boy is their son Giovanni, about two years old. The Medici court painter Bronzino made this portrait around 1545. It is now in the Uffizi Gallery in Florence.

🦉 Fun Fact! For a long time, people said Eleanor was buried in the dress from this portrait. But when her tomb was examined, the dress found there was a different, simpler one. That dress is now carefully kept in the costume museum of the Pitti Palace.
