This poster is for a café in Paris. Its name means "Japanese Couch." A woman in black sits in the middle. Look at the singer at the top. We can't see her face! But people knew her from her long black gloves.

This poster was made in 1892–93 for the Divan Japonais ("Japanese Couch"), a café-concert at 75 rue des Martyrs in Paris. In the middle, the dancer Jane Avril wears a black dress and a feathered hat. Next to her, in a top hat, is the writer and critic Édouard Dujardin.
