Paul Klee, a painter born in Switzerland, made this picture in 1928. He stacked red, yellow, blue and green rectangles and triangles like building blocks to create a castle town with pointed roofs and towers. At the top right is a big orange sun. On a dark brown ground, the small patches of color shine like a mosaic.

🦉 Fun Fact! Klee was very careful about his work. He recorded each piece with a number in his own catalog. The list includes more than 9,000 works. With so many small pictures, Klee was one of the most productive artists of the 20th century.
