A man and a woman are dancing outside. The woman has a red hat and a pink dress. One of her models was maybe Suzanne Valadon. Later, Valadon became a famous painter! Her son became a painter, too.

At an outdoor dance under the trees, a man and a woman dance close together. The woman's pink dress swings out, and you can almost hear the happy music. Pierre-Auguste Renoir painted this in 1883. It is a big picture, about 1.8 meters tall. It is now in the Museum of Fine Arts, Boston.

🦉 Fun Fact! The woman in the red hat is often said to be Suzanne Valadon. But X-rays show that she first wore a different hat and looked more like the woman in 'Dance in the Country,' so she may combine more than one model. Valadon later became a respected painter with a bold style. She was also the mother of the painter Maurice Utrillo.
