Gu Hongzhong was a court painter of the Southern Tang kingdom in 10th-century China. He is said to have served at court as a daizhao, a painter waiting for royal orders, and to have been skilled at painting people. But almost nothing else is known about him, not even when he was born or died. He is credited with the original Night Revels of Han Xizai, but the scroll in Beijing's Palace Museum is not by his hand. It is thought to be a copy made in the 12th century, during the Song dynasty.
