パリに生まれました。キュビスムの影響を受けながら、明るい色をぶつけ合わせてリズムを生む絵を描き、詩人アポリネールに「オルフィスム」と名づけられます。エッフェル塔を、くだけて踊るような形で何枚も描きました。飛行機や円をテーマにした抽象的な絵も有名です。妻のソニア・ドローネーもすぐれた画家・デザイナーでした。
Delaunay was born in Paris. Influenced by Cubism, he set bright colors against each other to create rhythm. The poet Apollinaire called his style 'Orphism.' He painted the Eiffel Tower many times, breaking it into dancing pieces. His abstract pictures of circles and airplanes are also famous. His wife, Sonia Delaunay, was a great painter and designer too.
