Every night, we lie down, close our eyes, and disappear into sleep. We spend about a third of our whole lives sleeping. It feels like wasted time. But sleep is one of the most important things we do.

While you sleep, your body is busy. It repairs muscles and heals small injuries. It also fights illness and helps you grow. This is why rest helps you get over a cold. A good night's sleep keeps the whole body strong and healthy.

Your brain works hard during sleep, too. It sorts through everything you learned that day. It keeps the important memories and clears away the rest. Sleep is like a librarian, tidying your mind. This is why sleep helps you remember and learn.

Without enough sleep, problems begin. You feel tired and grumpy. It becomes hard to think clearly or pay attention. Over time, too little sleep can even harm your health.

Most teenagers need about eight or nine hours of sleep each night. Yet many get far less, often because of screens and busy schedules. Their brains and bodies pay the price.

So sleep is not lazy or wasted time. It is when your body and mind quietly repair and grow. The next time you go to bed, remember: you are doing important work.

01Every night, we lie down, close our eyes, and disappear into sleep. We spend about a third of our whole lives sleeping. It feels like wasted time. But sleep is one of the most important things we do.

02While you sleep, your body is busy. It repairs muscles and heals small injuries. It also fights illness and helps you grow. This is why rest helps you get over a cold. A good night's sleep keeps the whole body strong and healthy.

03Your brain works hard during sleep, too. It sorts through everything you learned that day. It keeps the important memories and clears away the rest. Sleep is like a librarian, tidying your mind. This is why sleep helps you remember and learn.

04Without enough sleep, problems begin. You feel tired and grumpy. It becomes hard to think clearly or pay attention. Over time, too little sleep can even harm your health.

05Most teenagers need about eight or nine hours of sleep each night. Yet many get far less, often because of screens and busy schedules. Their brains and bodies pay the price.

06So sleep is not lazy or wasted time. It is when your body and mind quietly repair and grow. The next time you go to bed, remember: you are doing important work.
