Emma	Wow, look at all this chocolate! Why are there so many people here?
Haruto	It's for Valentine's Day. In Japan, women usually give chocolate to men.
Emma	Only women? In Canada, my dad gives my mom flowers every year.
Haruto	Really? Here, men give gifts back on March 14. We call it White Day.
Emma	That's interesting. So who gets all this chocolate?
Haruto	Some of it is honmei choco. That's for someone you really love.
Emma	And the small boxes over there?
Haruto	Those might be giri choco. People give them to co-workers to say thank you.
Emma	Chocolate for everyone at work? That sounds expensive!
Haruto	It is. Now many people just buy expensive chocolate for themselves.
Emma	I like that idea. Can I give chocolate to my friends, too?
Haruto	Sure. That's tomo choco. My sister made thirty for her class last year.
Emma	Thirty? OK, I'll make some for you, too. You can pay me back on White Day!
