Ryo	Olivia, why are there rainbow flags everywhere this week?
Olivia	It's June. June is Pride Month in the United States.
Ryo	Pride Month? What is it about?
Olivia	It celebrates LGBTQ people. It also remembers a night at a bar called the Stonewall Inn in 1969.
Ryo	What happened there?
Olivia	The police came, and people stood up to them. The first Pride march was one year later.
Ryo	So it started as a protest?
Olivia	Yes. Today it feels like a big festival, but the message is still important.
Ryo	I see. Why a rainbow?
Olivia	An artist named Gilbert Baker made the flag in 1978. The first one had eight colors.
Ryo	Eight? I can only count six.
Olivia	Pink and turquoise were dropped later. Pink cloth was hard to find.
Ryo	That's new to me! Can anyone go to the parade?
Olivia	Sure. Many people go as allies. Allies are people who show support. Let's go on Sunday!
