Gojira, or Godzilla, is a giant monster who first stomped through Tokyo in a 1954 Japanese film.

Gojira is the original Japanese name of Godzilla. The first film came out in 1954 from the studio Toho. In the story, a huge creature woken by nuclear testing attacks Tokyo, so it carried the real fears of its time. Since then there have been dozens of films in Japan and Hollywood, and Godzilla has become one of the best-known Japanese characters in the world.

参As a short speechスピーチ・英作文

Godzilla is known all over the world, but many people don't know that it started as a Japanese film. The original name is Gojira, and the first movie was released by Toho in 1954. It was directed by Honda Ishiro, and the special effects were led by Tsuburaya Eiji, whose company later made Ultraman.

In the story, a giant creature is woken by nuclear testing and attacks Tokyo. Today it may look like a simple monster movie, but in 1954 the fear on screen felt very real to the audience. Instead of computer graphics, the monster was played by an actor wearing a heavy suit, walking through a small model of the city.

In Japan, this kind of filmmaking is called tokusatsu, or special effects. Godzilla has appeared in dozens of films since then, including Hollywood versions. In 2024, Godzilla Minus One won the Academy Award for Best Visual Effects. To me, Godzilla is interesting because it is both a scary monster and a mirror of its time.

In 30 seconds

As a short speech
