豆知識Background
銀山温泉の名は、江戸時代の初めに栄えた延沢銀山にちなみます。温泉街は銀山川の両岸に沿って細長く続き、旅館が川をはさんで向かい合うように建っています。1913年（大正2年）の大洪水で町並みは大きな被害を受けましたが、その後、源泉を掘り直して湯量が戻り、各旅館は洋風を取り入れた3〜4階建ての木造建築に建て替えました。いまの景観は、この時代にできたものです。1983年に放送されたNHK連続テレビ小説『おしん』に登場したことで全国に知られ、近年は雪景色の写真がSNSで広まって、海外からの旅行者も増えました。冬の混雑が激しくなったため、車の乗り入れの規制や、日帰り客の予約制が行われるようになっています。
