Critics point out that a talk delivered to several hundred standing children in summer heat is a poor way to communicate anything, and some schools have shortened or moved it indoors for that reason. What it does well is mark a start. Whatever is said, everyone begins the day at the same moment, and that is largely the function.

AMany do, especially in manufacturing, retail and construction, where a daily safety briefing is genuinely useful. Some also include exercises to music, which has a long history in Japanese workplaces.

豆知識Background
学校では、全校で行う朝礼のほかに、教室で担任が連絡を伝える朝の会があります。日直が進行を務める学級も多く、健康の観察や今日の目標の確認が行われます。職場の朝礼では、予定の確認、安全の注意、社の理念の唱和などが行われることがあります。ラジオ体操を取り入れる職場もあり、こちらは夏休みの子どもの習慣としても知られています。暑さの対策として、屋外での長い朝礼を避け、放送や屋内で行う学校が増えました。
